Students who got into NYU:

Tips mention: Interview (1), ACT/SAT (59), Grades (70), Sports/Extracurriculars (36), College Essay (45)
I was valedictorian, participated in many EC such asApr 26 2008Undecided
I was valedictorian, participated in many EC such as plays, 3 years of biology research, history club. took AP's and aced them. My SAT was questionable but my class rank helped me out. Also, I am a NYC resident and NYU wants more new yorkers to go to NYU ( even made the application free for us).

Make sure you are not pretending to be who you are not... granted, sometimes it works but most of the time you wont be able to fit in a College to which you were accepted because the Admission committee didnt see the real you. Remember: college admission is a matching process not a competition and you will most likely enjoy where you end up...if you are sincere in your application. There is no perfect application and the more you perfect it the less likely you will enjoy the 4 years of college ahead of you.

feel free to Email me regarding college admissions in general of NYU-related questions and I will try to answer them.

good luck
SAT: 2030 Male

Surprisingly, I did not have an all-star high schoolApr 14 2008Political Science
Surprisingly, I did not have an all-star high school record. I had a 3.8 GPA and only took 2 AP classes, and along with my SAT score, was considered average-below average for NYU's standards. I was a pretty bright student, but I wanted to have a lot of fun in high school. So I did, and still got into NYU. Not bad I guess. If I had tried in h.s., I probably would have gotten into an Ivy League school, but I am perfectly happy where I am and would not change it if I could.

I was a high high high over-achiever in myNov 28 2007Education
I was a high high high over-achiever in my high school attending and holding leadership roles in a vast number of clubs and activities. I was on honor roll and had some worldly life experiences I drew upon for my admission essay. Lots of students here are well traveled and worldly.

Gallatin: Above 1300 on your SAT's MINIMUM. Also, your essays should show how you can handle creating your own program of study, your individualism, and your varying interests. Don't just say you're undecided.
